November is Native November is Native American Heritage Month! American Heritage Month! On October 24th, Ophir Elementary students enjoyed special guest speaker, Dr. Shane Doyle in the WMPAC. Dr. Doyle is a member of the Crow Tribe and shared information about Native American Culture. Students will continue their study of Indigenous cultures in the month of November. BSSD Community Book Club As the discussion on student health and development continues in Montana and on the National stage, our BSSD Community will engage in a collaborative book study of the recent release: “The Anxious Generation” By Jonathan Haitd. During Parent Teacher Conference week, there will be two book launch presentations on the evenings of November 12th and 13th at 6:30 PM in the Warren Miller Performing Arts Center. We will gather for a brief 20 minutes. There will be books available through the Big Sky Community Library. We look forward to seeing all community stakeholders for this special opportunity to read, learn, and engage in thoughtful discussion about our kids! Ophir Elementary and Middle School Students are using the reading platform, Beanstack to engage in school-wide reading challenges! Beanstack uses competition, recognition, and proven gamification principles to motivate students to read and develop a life-long love of reading. Whether your student chooses fiction, nonfiction, graphic novels, or articles online, any and all reading counts in Beanstack! By tracking their daily reading, your student will begin to build healthy reading habits and become a more confident reader.
