Attendance
Grades K-5: Please call Linda Nell (lnell@bssd72.org or 406-995-4281 x 502) to report a student’s absence or tardiness.
Grades 6-12: Please call Anita Romine (aromine@bssd72.org or 406-995-4281 x 501) to report a student’s absence or tardiness. Students in grades 6-12 who will be absent more than one full day for a planned absence, should fill out and turn in an Advanced Absence form before leaving for their planned absence.
Notifying the School about Changes in Transportation: Any change in bus or pick up routine will need to be communicated to the school in writing the morning of the change or sooner.
Lunch
Lunch is available for students to purchase each day. The lunch menu can be found by following the "Lunch" icon on the home page of the website or through the same icon on the district app.

Lunch Accounts and Payments
Students are issued a 4-digit lunch PIN number which can be used to purchase lunches.
Lunch payments are accepted at the school front offices (cash/check - BSSD72).

Click "Food Service" on the left
Click the blue "Pay" button
Enter dollar amount and click "Add to Cart"
To check out, click "My Cart" on the right

Free/Reduced Lunch
The Big Sky School District utilizes the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Qualified applicants will be eligible for the free or reduced (40 cents) lunch price upon submitting.
Applications must be renewed each year.

HRDC Healthy KidsPack
Healthy KidsPack is a partnership between Big Sky School District and the HRDC that provides free, nutritious bags of snacks and simple meals to students to take home for the weekends. Any family with children in grades K-12 can sign up. Click the link below to learn more and sign up:
Extreme Cold Weather Conditions
The school buses will not run but school will still be in session when the weather is –20 degrees or colder at the school. School will not be in session if the weather is –40 degrees or colder at the school. Students will go outside for recess if temperature at the school is zero and above. You should receive an email in the mornings when the buses do not run or school is closed. This information will also be posted on this website and the school’s Facebook page when the buses are not running or school is closed.
Health Enhancement Programs
The Big Sky School District has some unique health enhancement programs including downhill skiing, cross country skiing, and swim lessons. Any forms or information regarding these programs will be included with the school newsletter and on the website bssd72.org.
Title I
We are a Title I school. Parents may request information regarding the professional qualifications of your student’s teacher by contacting Dr. Dustin Shipman, district superintendent.
